Hauser & Wirth, Somerset
England is home to the most magnificent stately homes and gardens in Europe, not to mention beautiful landscapes, charming villages and cathedral towns. We have explored more than a hundred of the most important houses over the years, and the West Country is a favourite of ours (our Founder James McDonaugh grew up between Dorset and London and has many secrets to share).
Wiltshire, Dorset, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Devon and Cornwall offer masterpieces of English landscape design, classical temples, exotic trees and sweeping lakes. The Jurassic Coast is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Bath is arguably England’s most beautiful city. Salisbury and Wells boast two of its greatest cathedrals. Cornwall produced one of the most exciting modern art movements of the 20th century.
There are countless treasures to uncover in this region of England and we recommend a minimum of 3 nights to begin exploring one of the counties. If you are visiting London and have time to add a few nights in the countryside, look no further than the West Country.
