Loosing yourself in Marrakech is all part of the fun. The pure cobalt of Le Jardin de Majorelle – the magical garden created by French painter Jacques Majorelle and then owned by Yves Saint Laurent – is an escape to an oasis of intense blue. While there, the garden is also home to the Islamic Art Museum of Marrakech, featuring North African textiles, ceramics and jewellery. And stepping up the tempo, the medina and its souks are a swirling kaleidoscope of colours, sights and sounds.
Adventure South from Marrakech and the Atlas Mountains rise on the horizon. The high Berber villages in the Atlas are ideal starting points for inspiring mountain walks before retreating at the end of the day to Richard Branson’s luxury hideaway Kasbah Tamadot.
