Prague simply is the fairy tale city of your hopes. Its most charming districts, and its cobblestone streets, extend across the town and are easily enjoyed beyond the crowds, if you know where to go. Some visitors feel drawn one hour north to pay their respects at the Terezin (or ‘Theresienstadt’ ) memorial to the wartime Nazi ghetto. To the South is untouched Cesky Krumlov, UNESCO designated as one of Europe’s most romantic towns, set in a valley along a looping river. Further afield lie a host of beautiful palaces and gardens harking back to the glories of the Habsburg Empire.
