The University town of Leiden is the birthplace of Rembrandt. The Rijksmuseum van Oudheden houses an outstanding Ancient Egyptian collection. Leiden’s Gothic Pieterskerk is where The Pilgrim Fathers settled en route to establishing Plymouth Colony in America.
