Founded by James McDonaugh in 2008, Art Tours is a leading operator in bespoke cultural travel.

A skilled and highly experienced team, we give undivided attention to our clients. We pride ourselves on creativity: no two trips are the same and our clients return year after year. We offer unrivalled access to the top guides and private visits in Europe and beyond.

James McDonaugh, Director

Founder and Director of Art Tours, James was named one of the ‘Top Private Art Guides’ by The Wall Street Journal.

A uniquely gifted teacher, his immense knowledge is delivered with originality and passion. James has a Master's in Philosophy & Theology from Oxford University, a Diploma in Art History and a Master's in Architectural History from The Courtauld Institute of Art. James sees every journey as a creative opportunity: designed to be distinctive and tailored exactly to each client.

Italian art and architecture are James' favourite subjects; he has led over 100 tours to Italy and beyond, including trips for The Courtauld Institute of Art, the Art Fund, the House of Lords and many VIPs.

Recent travels: James is recently back from a successful trip to Puglia and will shortly travel to Sicily.

Katie Williams, Operations Manager

Katie has an unflinching eye for detail. She delivers extraordinary itineraries with calm and precision. She has eight years' experience working in the travel industry and a wide knowledge of Europe and Russia. Turkey remains her fascination.

Katie speaks fluent German and has a BA from Leeds University.

Recent travels: : Katie recently went to St Petersburg, Cappadocia and Istanbul. She is soon to visit Lisbon.

Natalie McDonaugh, Creative & Development

Natalie read English Literature at Cambridge University. Born in Kenya, she has travelled all over the world. She speaks Greek and has a detailed knowledge of Greece and its islands.

Natalie is responsible for the website and marketing, bringing her creativity and vision to Art Tours.

Recent travels: Siena and the stunning Maesta Altarpiece. Natalie will soon travel to Greece.

Amicie De Monteynard, Operations Assistant

Amicie developed a passion for travel at a young age. After volunteering and travelling in South America, she completed a degree in European Studies at the University of Bath.

Amicie is fluent in French, Spanish and Italian. She has rigorous operational skills and is committed to exceeding client expectations.

Recent travels: Barcelona's magnificent Casa Batllo and the unique Vigeland Sculpture Park in Oslo. Amicie will soon visit the Marche.

Hugo McDonaugh, Non Executive Director

Our business consigliere, Hugo advises on strategy and innovation. He is a director and advisor on the board of several international companies, delivering solutions in the financial and educational sectors.

Hugo has a Master's from Imperial College in Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Management. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Ancient History and Classical Archaeology from Warwick University.

Recent travels: Hugo has just returned from a business development trip to Silicon Valley and will soon travel to China to explore the Asian Market.
